Take a Tech-Break | Guest Blog Post by Joel Carlson

We take breaks for coffee, a break for lunch, why not take a tech-brake? We have become people who spend a lot of time in front of screens of various sizes. Televisions telephones, computers, smarthphones, iPods, Kindles and so forth. While all of these are helpful tools, our minds and our bodies need a break from them so that we help ourselves. Many of the technologies that have been designed for our benefit, were not made so that our bodies would stay in a good posture position if we use them for extended periods of time. The prolonged hours that we might use them are not good for our vision either. So we need to take a tech-brake to stretch, to exercise, and to relieve our eyes of strain. Doing this also helps clear our mind as well and recollect our thoughts.

How do we do that? We set our calendar system to alert us that after a certain reasonable period of time, we turn away from our computer, we put our phone or other electronic device away for a few minutes, and then we stretch, we breath, we gain our mental focus and get refreshed. These devices are very helpful tools to assist us in getting things done better, quicker and in newer ways. Many people enjoy using, some even passionately, the latest device or gadget and can be easily drawn into using it for hour upon hour. Even with all of that passion, take a break for yourself, take a tech-break. Aren't you worth it?

Let me know your thoughts on this and if you do this already.
