"Browne has written another entertaining and highly enjoyable novel that will appeal to fans of Bridget Jones's Diary and other British chick lit."-- Library Journal
The Finishing Touches by Hester Browne has officially moved into my top five favorite books. Hester Browne is a New York Times bestselling author and an all around great writer to begin with and I have made a point to seek out her publications (and read every last one of them) including The Little Lady Agency, Little Lady Agency and The Prince, and Little Lady Big Apple (if you know of any others please let me know).
I bet some of you are wondering how this feminine novel of love and etiquette would apply at all to my usual marketing and business related tips, but I think everyone (man or women) can apply good manners, etiquette and being well dressed to their business/daily life repertoire. This book offers a full range of tips that you can easily apply to your own life.
The Finishing Touches is a charming new novel, about a English finishing school that gets a twenty-first-century makeover. The enchanting main character, Betsy Phillimore, is a proper young lady who grew up around the old fashion white gloves and flower arranging old world finishing school that adopted her. Business-savvy Betsy Phillimore, offers applicable tips and trick on how to manage your purse, finances and in general just be well-dressed and well-mannered in today's society.
I read this captivating novel in about three days because I just couldn't put it down. I even found myself time and again pulling out the old note book and writing tips that I wanted to apply to my own life! It is an ambrosial love story that doesn't make you cry with Hester Browne own witty British charm. I'm going to read this page-turner again and again.
