The Dumbest Generation? is a book written by Mark Bauerlein. In this book he states that students have lost a 2 to 1 margin on basic skills, that they are worse now then basic skills where a decade ago. Mark says instead of working they Facebook. That Constant interruptions make it impossible for us to focus and in the long run make us stupid with only a short term focus on the future.
Can we slow down and really start to get back to basics before we are all too fat or too emotionally distant to care or focus? Do we want to slow down? At the end of the day are we better off with a society that is simply open to exploring and multitasking. I'm sure constant contact with wires and digital devices will also have effects on our motor skills, eye site and the amount of poison (microwaves/radiation waves) we allow in our bodies. Combine technology with poor eating and we have a trifecta of disconnected geeky, poisoned kids... or are we just different from the past and therefore hard for past generations to understand?
