Who is Fallon?
Fallon is a large advertising agency founded twenty-seven years ago in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the premise of building brands not trends.
Generous brands create something of value in the world: entertainment value, social value, and belief value. Generous brands are additive to peoples’ lives and to culture. They help build ideas in the world; they leave something behind. Modern branding is learning to give as much as you take. -- Fallon.com/about
Skimmer, who are you and what do you do for this big bad social media world? I first discovered you nearly a year ago (I think that's when it came out but time flies). Since Skimmers release it was a smash hit to the talk of the town and the wen off my radar. Wonder what is next for this fun tool and Fallon.
Powered by Adobe AIR, Skimmer is a downloadable application that streams Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, and Blogger onto one desktop dashboard. The app has launched in conjunction with Fallon's new corporate Web site -- employees' social media activity will be published via Skimmer within Fallon.com. Watch a video of skimmer here. -- Creativity Online
How is Skimmer Unique?
Skimmer was built by a big advertising agency. It not only aggregates one social networks data, but basically the top five. The layout and application is unique, being that it runs on Adobe Air. It allows you to see photos inside of the application, rather than just viewing links and is faster then most of the other applications out there. I think it's great for beginners or users who just want to skim data. Skimmer is not a tool for power users, although they might use it to. I say that it's not because it doesn't allow you to view analytics, additional unique data, or manage multiple accounts the way that Tweetie, Radian6, Google Alerts, Hubspot or Hootsuite would.
