An Intro to Google Buzz with a little note of cynicism
Google launched Buzz today. The newest online tool from Google. Buzz is like a mixture of Gmail, your Facebook newsfeed and Twitter. This tool integrates all kinds of media, which seems to be a big trend with Google platforms, albeit not necessarily a successful one. I'm referring to how slow Google Wave becomes when you try to add any kind of media, also wish google wave notes would collapse but that's another story all together.
What you can integrate with Google Buzz
Google Buzz offers you the ability to integrate Picasa photos, your Google Reader shared items, commenting, the like feature (similar to facebook's), tracking whos following you (like twitter), Google Chat status messages (back to being like well Gmail or Facebook), videos and email.
Google has long offered Google Profiles, much like Linkedin or a Facebook profile. Buzz requires you set up a Google Profile in order to use Google Buzz. Did you know Google can also manage your health, insurance, prescriptions, along with any ailments? Well Google can by connecting your profile with Google Health, but again that's off topic.
One of the great features about Google Buzz is that you can email a post to your friends, link to it (refer to it), chat with someone about it or opt to view more/less/no posts from that person. I'm not sure what they consider abuse, but you can also report abuse.
What do you think of Google Buzz? I like it so far, but my personal jury is still out. I'll continue to judge it and well the amount I use it and can integrate it into my life will prove if it is a success for me. What do you hate or like about it? Do you think there are any missing features? Thanks for reading.
