How does Google plan to monetize Buzz? {Desarae A. Veit AKA DesaraeV | Agency Couture}

How does Google plan to monetize Buzz? In Gmail, they have contextual ads. Do you think once this service takes off we will be seeing inline ads? --Saad Kamal

I personally think an ad between every Buzz note would be a tad annoying, but what if Google offered to share the spoils? Google already shares the revenue of AdSense and YouTube advertising with major content players. Offering to give us money for reading Buzz and clicking on links would certainly lighten the mood. It could also cause more click throughs, maybe. Still has the potential to be annoying and in the way. What if they put the ads on the side so it didn't lengthen an already long stream? Frankly, Google doesn't need the money. If they left the ads at the top (where they currently are) it probably wouldn't hurt their stock prices.


George Gorman says, "Saad the ad rev share model wouldnt be hard to do, im in the middle of designing a similar module for my citizen journalist www.iseeireportnews.ning.com site, where if you post an article, photo, video etc you get a % of the google ad revenue for visits to that content."
