Can You Speak UP?! Hello I'm here in the back..
I feel like we've been having the same conversation for months (if not years) that Chris Brogan and Rick Mahn had in this table talk video. Yes we have some cool start ups here, the Midwest has some bad ass designers, and other smarties but forcing them to share ideas and collaborate is like pulling teeth some days. Everyone wants a leader but most aren't willing to step up to that plate. Will you just step up already?!
Let's Get Together YaYaYa
I'm not trying to jab at anyone in particular so get that out of our heads. I want us all to succeed. I want YOU to succeed, which is why I always offer to help. Just contact me. The fact is that most of us don't want to leave our niche and venture to see other business associations (and their are LOADS of them to be found). You want a nice list, just check out TechDotMN or the yearly Alphabet Bash. A few more examples (so you have no excuses):
- The Advertising Federation of Minnesota and AdFed2
- PRSA -
- MIMA - Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association
- AMA - American Marketing Association
- SMB - Social Media Breakfast
- TCSMU - Twin Cities Social Media Underground
- TCTHH - Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours
- YPTCC - Young Professional Twin Cities Communicators
- I'm sure I'm missing lots of others, but these are the ones I regularly attend. Add yours in the comments.
Don't be afraid to collaborate, join forces, share ideas, VOLUNTEER (yes, for free), or talk up your competitor (especially if what they are doing that is cool has nothing to do with taking your business away). An idea fully completed and shared (even if you make less money) is better then an idea not shared and never completed (and you make zero dollars). Hell most of my ideas I would be happy to just have exist even if I never make the money, I'd even be willing to buy them from someone else!
As always you are more then welcome to use any of my content, repost it, rewrite it, and broadcast it all I ask is that you link back to where you found it (http://interactivemedias.blogspot.com)
I would also love to hear YOUR comments, questions or concerns of my posts and reviews! What do you think, its ok if our opinions don't match up! Leave a comment or let me know what you would like to learn more about and maybe it will become my next blog post or video blog.
Also don't forget to subscribe to my video tutorials (on youtube or itunes) as well as subscribe to my blog posts on here so you can have the latest web tips, tricks and book reviews delivered directly to your inbox!
Thanks for reading!
