While reading Seth Godin's post, What's Expected vs. What's Amazing I ran across the following:
Scott Adams writes about the cyborg tool that is coming momentarily, a device that will remember names, find connections, bring all sorts of external data to us the moment we meet someone. "Oh, Bob, sure, that's the guy who's friends with Tracy... and Tim just tweeted about him a few minutes ago."
I'm sure if you follow me on twitter or read this blog you can tell that my name is unique. Desarae is a french word meaning long awaited for. I was supposed to be born on Valentine's Day but was six days late, my parents where trying to be cute by naming me this. I like the name but it's unusual for people to pick it up quickly, let alone be able to spell it.
On February 3rd I met Chris Brogan for the first time (I wrote a post on meeting Chris Brogan here). Chris has over 100,000 followers on twitter, is a New York Times Best Selling co-author of Trust Agents, travels internationally for public speaking, is in a different city almost every week, and is the president of New Media Marketing Labs. Needless to say Chris is a busy guy, so imagine how delighted I was when he remembered my name when we met, mentioned me when he was on stage, and could even spell my unique name correctly when he signed my book. Bravo Chris. Not sure how he remembered, but it made my week. Seth Godin is absolutely right it's the little things.
